Taking a Poetry Bath

This weekend, my dear friend Angela Bigler, co-hosted a poetry bath with the owner of Radiance, an eclectic, herbal shop in Lancaster, PA. I got to listen as she shared her original poems published in several issues of the We'Moon Calendar. Afterwards, each of the women in the group read more poetry from We'Moon 2022. It was magical to listen to inspiring words read aloud in a sacred circle. To slow down and "bathe" in those words that conveyed so many emotions from sadness and grief to joy and delight.

Since I was so inspired by the readings, I thought you may also delight in some words of magic and mystery.

Here are just a few of my favorite poems from We'Moon 2022... I hope you find something in these words that you need to hear today.

Everyday Sorceress by Molly M. Remer

May you make your own magic
out of weeds and wonder.
May you create your own enchantments
from the stuff of mud and memory.
May you spin your own spells
from threads of raindrops and roses.
May you breathe in the knowing
that you hold the power
to make the world anew.

Seeds by Emily Kedar

I don't know what this choice will lead to.
Or the one I made yesterday, or even
that one five years ago, when I
walked away.

I don't know how hardy this vine will be
how productive, how sweet her fruit.

I only know that these seeds are the
ones in my hands and this soil at
my feet is longing to be the dark agent
of transformation she was always
meant to be.

What good gardener would waste
the gift of seed for a sliver of doubt
wedged inside her mind?

I want dirt under my fingernails
and all my seed packets empty.

Universe Wishes by Shelley Blooms

Infinitely comforted to learn:
As the white dwarf star
Nears the end of its billions of years lifespan
It sends out carbon seeds on a stellar wind
To create new stars, new life
Humble and majestic as a dandelion seed head
Lofting its progeny into a friendly meadow breeze
The vast incomprehensibility of the universe
Made familiar as a child making wishes
On a puff of dandelion seeds.
